Soul's Remnant magic build: verified path overview
Magic uses Intelligence for damage and can be mixed with Melee, Ranged and Faith in Soul's Remnant's classless skill system.
Soul's Remnant Magic build: a verified starting framework
There is no single documented Magic build that is best for every player or activity. The useful starting point is the game’s classless system: Steam describes four combat skill lines — Melee, Range, Magic, and Faith — that can be mixed through stat allocation and swappable equipment, skill, and stat loadouts. Use that flexibility to make a loadout for the job you are doing, rather than treating a list of skills as permanent.
Start with the Magic passive
The current Magic (Passive) page says that the passive gains proficiency as you deal Magic damage, gates the Magic skills you can learn, increases Magic damage, and caps at level 99. It also lists recurring perks: Shield every two levels, Max MP every five levels, and MP regeneration every twelve levels. This makes the passive a practical first checkpoint: if a skill you want is locked, confirm the required Magic level before committing upgrade materials elsewhere.
Pick skills by role, then read the exact requirements
The official Skills table lists Magic Burst, Gust, Soul Bomb, Blink, Flame Barrage, and other Magic-category skills. It also shows several hybrids: Soul Shot and Arrow Rain use Range and Magic, while Magic Slash, Lunar Step, Crescent Slash, and Crimson Moon combine Melee and Magic. A hybrid is not automatically stronger; it means you must meet and support more than one category.
Magic Slash is a concrete example. Its current page lists Melee Lv 5 and Magic Lv 5 as requirements, a 0.5-second cooldown, and scaling from both Melee and Magic. It is a basic-attack chain rather than a generic spell recommendation. If you do not want to level Melee, it is not the right foundation for a Magic-only setup.
Use loadouts to test instead of guessing
The Skills guide says a Combo can hold up to six skills and that each loadout saves its own Combo configuration. Put a simple, repeatable sequence on one loadout, test it against comparable content, then compare it with a second setup. Track the practical questions the tooltip cannot answer alone: can you sustain the MP cost, do cooldowns leave gaps, and does the range feel safe for the activity?
When a skill level is ready to increase, open the Skills menu and check the listed costs. The Wiki notes that upgrades may use Essences, Soul Crystals, Souls, Dungeon Crystals, and other materials. Requirements and balance are actively changing during Early Access, so the in-game tooltip and latest patch notes take priority over an older build video.
